Long Drive Competitions

Good day all.

BLOG ENTRY: WORLD'S LONGEST GOLF DRIVE COMPETITION

Do you love your golf driver? For many the golf driver is the 'go to driver' for most. Technology has changed hugely over the years, with many more forgiving drivers on the market, the driver has become even more popular. For this blog entry we take a quick look at the 'World's Longest Drive Competition'.

WHAT IS THE WORLD'S LONGEST DRIVE COMPETITION?

This is a fantastic initiative and brings a new dimension to golf, an added fun factor. It is run by the organisation 'PLDA', which stands for the 'Professional Long Drivers Association'.

Most of the competitions are based in the USA, unfortunately there appears to be no competition like this in the UK. It would be great if it could be brought to the UK, perhaps it could be created along the lines of an embassy darts style visitor event, with banks of benches, food and drinks.

You can enter via a local qualifier competition, you get 6 balls, and you can pay for more 6 ball attempts. This then enters you into your regional qualifier for the main events.

WHEN ARE THE NEXT MAIN EVENTS?

The next 2022 events will be in Mesquite, Jupiter Florida, Mesquite, Denver, Memphis, Port Rowan in Canada, Portland, West Bountiful, Nakagawa Japan, Mesquite and Manzanillo in Mexico.

You can find out more by visiting: www.prolongdrivers.com

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A PRO TO ENTER?

No. However you need to become a member of the PLDA and go through the given qualifiers.

IS IT EASY?

No, it will take quite skill and effort to blast the ball a fair distance. In October, the legend DeChambeau entered one of the competitions and finished 7th!

So if the driver is your favourite club, or your 'go to club' at the driving range, why not try and enter a comp if you a visiting the USA. We would love to hear how you get on, perhaps you could become the no. 1 Brit by doing so!

Have a great drive!
